Jace & Gigi
November 2023
When the dog owned by Jace Diamandis runs amok in traffic on the island of Rhodes, Gigi saves it. Jace takes one look at the beautiful veterinary surgeon and wants her, only he can’t understand why she doesn’t seem to want him back.
Jace doesn’t want one special woman. Gigi doesn’t want one special man either.
Someone’s going to have to break but it’s not likely to be Gigi, who is fiercely independent.
This is the first of a duet about two brothers.
UPDATE (April 2024): Jace and Gigi’s story will be called the “Greek’s Shotgun Wedding“.
Excerpts From the Book
What a weird woman
Jace breathed in deep and slow as if he was bracing himself. What a weird woman, what a thoroughly weird woman! And then she finally paid him the compliment of looking up at him and he saw her for the first time…and she was gorgeous in that strangely natural way only a very few women could match. No makeup, nothing enhanced. Just pale porcelain skin, huge cornflower blue eyes and a mouth, a sultry pink full mouth that could only exist for sin.
‘Well. Come in if you’re coming,’ she told him impatiently.’ And I’m sorry but your friends will have to stay outside because it is a very small house and one stranger at a time is quite enough for me at this time of day.’
Dark colour larded Jace’s cheekbones. A woman had never addressed him in that no-nonsense tone in his life. It felt exceedingly…wrong, he decided, wondering why she was reacting that way to him. Of course, he had been rude, he reminded himself, attacking rather than pausing to first discover what had happened to his pet.
‘I think as far as he’s concerned, he was retrieving you,’
For a split second, she felt as though her heart stopped beating and the world suddenly swam into sharper focus on his lean dark face. Green eyes flaring like fireworks, startlingly intense and potent. It shook her up. She stole a fast glance at him and then walked over to the windows as if she were examining the fabulous view of the harbour and the winding road beyond it. She spun back, her heart now beating at an accelerated rate and watched Mo trot over to greet Jace as normally as if the dog had just entered the room rather than run off on his owner again.
‘I think as far as he’s concerned, he was retrieving you,’ Jace quipped as though he had been thinking the exact same thing.
‘Probably,’ she agreed with a slightly nervous laugh.
It was amazing the rush she could get
Halfway out of his shirt, Jace paused and braced both hands on either side of her flushed face.’ I wanted you the minute I laid eyes on you with my dog in the street- ‘
‘I didn’t look at you until we were indoors- ‘
‘And what did you think?’
It was amazing the rush she could get from one hungry, demanding glance of those scorching green eyes of his.
’I thought you were too goodlooking to be real and now I like you best when I’ve messed you up a little,’ she quipped, ruffling his soft silky hair until it was thoroughly untidy.
And when he slowly tasted her parted lips again with sensual expertise, she gave herself up to the pleasure of it. She felt happier than she had ever felt. She felt wanted, appreciated, special for the first time in her life. It was a crazy infatuation and she refused to agonise over it. It wouldn’t last forever. Such insane flights of fancy as put two such different people in a relationship never did last. But while it was current, she planned to make the most of it.
