This is the second half of the Diamandis brothers duet.

A chance encounter in a snowstorm brings Nic Diamandis and Lexy together. Separation leads to complications and misunderstandings.

When they meet again eighteen months later, everything has changed for Lexy and she decides that she’ll become a gold-digging wife if it means security.

Excerpts From the Book

‘You’re going to be alright.’

‘My name is Nic,’ he told her.’ What’s yours?’

‘Lexy,’ she mumbled as he stretched up to depress the seat belt button and it released and she slumped fully against the door below her.

For the first time he saw the driver and no longer wondered why he had had no view of her even from the rear of the car because she was absolutely tiny, almost child-sized and on a positive note, she ought to be light enough for him to lift and extract. ’Grab my hand,’ he urged, reaching down as close as he could get to her.

‘Can I grab my handbag?’

‘No- ‘

‘But I can’t do anything without my handbag!’ she wailed in dismay.

‘Right now, we’re concentrating on getting you out- ‘

Lexy grabbed the big masculine hand and gasped as he literally hauled her up.’ Grip my shoulder,’ he told her and she complied as he raised her up and she had a blurred vision of bronzed skin, black hair and very dark eyes.

With the muted venting of what sounded like a foreign curse word, he began to manoeuvre the two of them backwards out of the car.

It was the ‘please’ that seduced her

That kiss connected Lexy again. She stretched up to him as he began to remove her last garments, hunger twisting through her, making her restless. He shimmied down over her body and spread her thighs and she just about had a heart attack when she realised what he planned to do. It was something she had read about in steamy books, not something she had ever fancied on her own behalf and she went rigid.

‘No,’ she told him shakily.

‘You’ll like it,’ Nic swore with sensual resolution.’ Please…’

It was the ‘please’ that seduced her.

She wasn’t falling for him

She wasn’t falling for him, she assured herself because nobody fell in love in a matter of eighteen hours, nobody normal or sensible anyway. It was just that she liked him, liked him an awful lot, she reasoned, and it wasn’t only the sex, although that had been pretty spectacular. He was clever, he was kind, he was thoughtful and even though she suspected that it would come naturally to him to rap out orders like a domineering boss, he was controlling that tendency for her benefit. She laughed at herself as he reappeared at her side of the car and got her out to help her into her sensible winter coat. A full-bodied shiver ran through her as he carefully tugged her hair out from below the collar. He had yet to show her one thing about him that she didn’t like or appreciate.

‘How dare you?’

‘I want to slap you right now,’ Lexy confided shakily.

Nic slowly, gracefully with a fluidity of motion that set her teeth even more in edge sat up as well, the sheet dropping to his lean waist, shadow glimmering over his hard muscular chest, picking out the swells and the hollows, every one of them in exactly the right place to drive a woman to madness.’ I get that but I don’t understand why,’ he countered levelly.

‘You don’t understand why?’ Lexy gasped in a rage with knotted fists.’ Last night you were in bed with me- ‘

‘Not about to forget that- ‘

‘Telling me that you dreamt of being with me like this, telling me that I was unbelievably sexy!’ she whipped back fiercely.

‘And it was all true,’ Nic delivered like a male with a death wish and she wanted to kill him stone dead where he sat. ‘One thing doesn’t change…no matter what you say or do, I still want you.’

‘How dare you?’ she exclaimed, piling up his sins inside her brain like an avalanche ready to drown them both.
