Once, Luc Santini's inherent sensuality had proved to be Catherine's downfall. For two years she had loved him unconditionally, until she realized that this rich, powerful man regarded her as a possession not a woman he loved enough to marry. She fled her gilded cage pregnant with his child. And then fate placed Luc back in her life. He didn't know about Daniel... and Catherine intended to keep it that way. But would she surrender to his erotic demands and risk losing herself in a whirl of desire to protect her son?

This one is in my top ten of Lynnes books. I love this story. Love the characters and the way the plot develops. It's a perfectly paced novel which captures the highs and lows of falling in love. Kept firmly in the 'mistress' category, Catherine only finds the strength to leave Luc when she realises that she's pregnant and he'll never marry her. Not only will he never marry her but he's offensive and insulting in his reasons as to why he won't marry her. She disappears and it's several years later when they meet again. This time around though, Catherine is a different person. There's a wonderful scene where she purposely dresses inappropriately only to be congratulated on her 'designer punk' style much to the amusement of Luc. Well worth reading and definitely a keeper.
